Our services

What We Actually Do

We work on torsion and extension springs, openers, tracks, rollers, cables, and panels. Most houses on this side of the metro went up between 1957 and 2005, with a median build year around 1975, and across the 48 named areas we cover that's mostly 1960s-70s stock.

Aged torsion hardware

That means a lot of original torsion hardware that's aged past its spring-cycle life, and openers from an era before rolling-code remotes were standard. Cold-climate winters here are hard on steel tracks and nylon rollers - metal contracts, lubricant stiffens, and a door that worked fine in October binds by January.

Framing falls outside scope

We don't do new construction framing or structural carpentry around the opening. If your header or jambs need rebuilding, that's a carpenter's job before it's a garage door job. What we can tell you honestly: a door with a cracked panel and a dead spring is usually worth fixing.

Cost of stacked repairs

A door with rusted-through tracks, a warped section, and an opener from two owners ago is usually not - at that point replacement costs about the same as a string of repairs and you get a door that's actually weathertight for the cold band we're in.

Contacting Us

Call 19522465119 or stop by 5500 Lincoln Dr, Edina, MN 55436. What we need to give you an accurate number, not a guess: the door's width (single or double), whether it's wood, steel, or composite, roughly how old it is, and what it's actually doing - won't open, opens then reverses, makes a specific noise, one side higher than the other.

Photos before estimating

Photos of the spring assembly and the track help more than a written description. What we cannot price over the phone: anything involving a bent track, a door that's come off its rollers, or hardware we haven't seen in person.

Drums and shaft mismatch

A torsion spring job on a standard double door is a different animal from one where the drums are mismatched or the shaft is bent - and we won't know which we're dealing with until we're standing in front of it.

Pre-visit troubleshooting by phone

If you tell us the door won't move at all, we can usually narrow it down before we arrive, but the final number still comes from an in-person look, not a phone estimate.

That's a lot of owned homes with original garage doors still attached, which is most of what we're called out for. If you're outside this list, call anyway - distance alone isn't always a dealbreaker, but we'd rather tell you up front than waste your time.

Questions

Common questions

Can you give me a price over the phone?

We can give you a range if you tell us the door size, material, age, and the problem. A firm number needs an in-person look, especially for spring and track issues, because two doors with the same symptom can need very different parts.

Do you work on doors outside Edina?

Yes. We cover towns from Richfield at 4 miles out to Arden Hills at 16 miles, along with the areas in between. If your town isn't on our list, call and ask - we'll tell you straight whether it's a trip we make.

Is my old opener worth fixing or should I replace it?

Depends on what's wrong. A dead circuit board or burnt-out motor on an opener from the 1970s-80s building wave usually isn't worth chasing parts for. A bad sensor or remote is a quick fix. We'll tell you which one you've got.

What information speeds up my quote?

Door width, material, approximate age, and a plain description of the symptom - stuck, noisy, uneven, won't close. A photo of the spring area and track helps us rule things in or out before we even get in the truck.
